Why Free Continuing Education?

Sometimes a little practice is needed before fully "going public".

Other times a venue prohibits earning profit on-site.

Still, other times a course is offered to the public.

And lastly, the annual Zoom subscription is already paid.

This Month's Free Class (April)

SMART Notes for Patient Management

Duration: about an hour.

NCCAOM PDA's: none

When: Tuesday 4/29/25 7:00 pm EST

Have you heard of SMART notes? Probably not, because it started here. This short class introduces SMART notes and what it can do for you in the clinic. It is a helpful aid when designing a course of treatment.

The big difference between the SMART note and the familiar SMART goal is the "A". SMART notes use "Assignable", (as intended by George Doran- the originator) instead of "Achievable" or "Attainable". It clarifies and documents the roles and responsibilities before treatment begins.

The difference between the SMART note and the SOAP note is who it is for. The SOAP note is for the clinician but the SMART note is for the patient.

Wouldn't it be nice to hold the patient accountable for their role in their own health? The SMART note does that.

Because this class is free, it occurrence is entirely dependent on registration so spread the word.

Class is automatically cancelled if a minimum number registrants has not been met within 24 hours of class time.

There is no certainty when and if it is offered again.
